We fix slow computers.
Whether you're a business that needs a full IT partner or a homeowner with a box of old VHS tapes — Sussex PC handles it all. Real technicians, plain English, and no surprises on your invoice.
The 5 Principles Of Sussex PC
A lot of IT companies will tell you they're fast, cheap, and trustworthy. We'd rather just show you — starting with the five things we refuse to compromise on, no matter the job.
Direct Technician Access
When you call or message us, you get the actual person working on your computer — not a call center, not a bot, not someone reading from a script. You'll always know exactly who's handling your stuff and how to reach them directly.
We Actually Diagnose First
We don't just swap parts and hope for the best. Before we touch anything, we figure out what's actually wrong. That means fewer unnecessary repairs, less money out of your pocket, and a fix that actually sticks.
Built Around You
Your home setup isn't the same as your neighbor's, and your business isn't the same as the one down the street. We don't do cookie-cutter solutions — everything we do is built around how you actually work and what you actually need.
We Take Your Data Seriously
Whether we're retiring an old hard drive or setting up a new system, your data is handled with real care. We follow proper security practices every time — not because we have to, but because it's the right thing to do.
No Surprise Bills. Ever.
Before we do anything, you'll know what it costs and why. No hidden fees, no vague invoices, no "we had to do extra work" calls after the fact. What we quote is what you pay — and we'll always explain exactly what you're paying for.

Meet The Founder
Chase
Founder & Lead Technician — Sussex PC
I've been in love with computers since I was four years old — waking up before anyone else in the house, booting up the family PC, blasting music, and accidentally waking up my dad in the process. That curiosity never went away. By 12, I built my first PC from scratch, and I've been building, fixing, and obsessing over technology ever since.
I started Sussex PC because I saw how the big IT companies treat people — long hold times, scripted answers, and bills that don't make sense. I wanted to build something different. When you call Sussex PC, you get me. I show up, I fix it, and I explain what happened in plain English. No layers, no runaround.
When I'm not under the hood of a server or running cable through someone's office, you'll probably find me behind a drum kit, digging through vinyl records, or producing music. I bring that same creative energy and attention to detail to every IT project I take on.
Sussex PC isn't just a business to me — it's the thing I was always going to build. That kid waking up at 5am to mess with computers? He's still here. He just has better tools now.

Happy New Year From Sussex PC — Here's To 2026!
As we kick off a brand new year, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you to every customer, neighbor, and local business that trusted us with their technology in 2025. We're just getting started.
2025 was a big year for Sussex PC. We helped home users recover memories they thought were lost forever, got businesses back up and running after tech failures, and built some really great relationships with people right here in Southeast Wisconsin.
And honestly? That's what this is all about. Not the hardware, not the software — the people. The grandma who cried when she saw her old home videos playing on the TV again. The small business owner who finally stopped losing sleep over whether their data was backed up. Those are the moments we're in this for.
What's coming in 2026
We're expanding our managed IT services, adding more tools to help local businesses stay secure and running smoothly, and continuing to be the one IT company in Southeast Wisconsin that actually picks up the phone and talks to you like a real person.
If you've been thinking about reaching out — whether it's for a repair, a VHS transfer, or just a conversation about your tech situation — 2026 is the year to do it. We'd love to work with you.
From Chase and the whole Sussex PC team — Happy New Year. Here's to a great 2026. 🥂
5 Signs Your Computer Needs A Tune-Up (Before It Dies On You)
Your computer doesn't usually fail overnight. It gives you warnings — most people just don't know what to look for. Here are the five biggest red flags that something's wrong before it becomes a real problem.
1. It's gotten noticeably slower over time
If your computer used to start up in 30 seconds and now it takes 3 minutes, that's not normal aging — that's a sign something is wrong. Could be too many startup programs, a failing hard drive, or malware running in the background.
2. The fan is constantly running loud
Your computer's fan ramps up when it's working hard. If it's always loud even when you're just browsing the web, the system is overheating. This is usually caused by dust buildup inside — and if left alone, it can damage components permanently.
3. Programs crash randomly or freeze up
The occasional crash happens. But if it's happening regularly — especially with programs that used to work fine — that's a sign of a deeper issue. Could be RAM starting to fail, software corruption, or a drive problem.
4. You're getting unexpected pop-ups or redirects
If you're seeing ads where there weren't ads before, or your browser is sending you to weird websites, you likely have adware or malware. Don't ignore it — it can get worse quickly and some variants steal personal information.
5. It hasn't been cleaned or serviced in over 2 years
Even if everything seems fine, computers benefit from a proper tune-up every couple of years — clearing dust, checking for failing parts, cleaning up software, and making sure everything is running efficiently. Think of it like an oil change for your car.
If any of these sound familiar, reach out — we'll take a look and give you an honest assessment. No charge just to chat.
How To Know If Your Business Actually Needs Managed IT
A lot of small business owners assume managed IT is only for big companies with big budgets. That's not true anymore. Here's how to tell if it makes sense for you — and when it really doesn't.
What is managed IT, really?
Managed IT means you have someone watching over your technology on an ongoing basis — keeping things updated, catching problems before they cause downtime, and being available when something goes wrong. Think of it as having an IT department without hiring a full-time employee.
Signs you probably need it:
- You've lost work or data because a computer failed
- You or your staff are spending time dealing with tech issues instead of actual work
- You're not sure if your systems are secure or backed up
- You have more than 3-4 computers and no one managing them
- A tech problem has cost you money or a customer
Signs you might not need it yet:
- You're a solo operation with one or two devices
- Your tech needs are minimal and rarely change
- You already have someone handling it reliably
The honest answer is that most businesses with 3+ employees benefit from at least some level of managed IT support. The cost of downtime usually far exceeds the cost of prevention.
Not sure if it's right for you? Tell us about your setup — we'll give you a straight answer, even if that answer is "you don't need us yet."
What Actually Happens To Your Data When You Wipe A Hard Drive
Most people think deleting files or doing a factory reset means their data is gone. It isn't. Here's what actually happens — and what you should do if you're getting rid of an old device.
Deleting a file doesn't delete the data
When you delete a file, your computer just removes the pointer to it — the actual data stays on the drive until something else is written over it. With free recovery tools, someone can retrieve those files easily. This includes photos, documents, passwords, and banking information.
A factory reset isn't much better
A standard factory reset on a PC or laptop typically just reinstalls the operating system and marks the old data as available space. It doesn't actually destroy the data. A determined person with the right software can still recover it.
What actually works:
- Multi-pass overwrite: Special software that writes random data over your drive multiple times, making the original data practically unrecoverable.
- Physical destruction: For drives containing highly sensitive data, physically destroying the drive is the only guaranteed method.
- Certified data destruction: A documented process with a chain of custody record — important for businesses that handle customer data.
Why does this matter?
Old computers and hard drives are one of the most common ways personal and business data gets into the wrong hands. People sell old laptops, donate computers, or throw away drives without realizing what's still on them.
We handle certified data destruction for both home and business customers. Your old drives are wiped properly and you get documentation confirming it's done. Reach out if you have devices that need to go.
We Built A Cybersecurity Game — Can You Defend The Network?
We built a browser-based tower defense game themed around network security. Build solar arrays, deploy turrets, and defend your Command Core against waves of malware. How long can you survive?
Why did we build a game?
Because cybersecurity doesn't have to be boring. We wanted to show what it actually feels like to defend a network — managing power, prioritizing threats, and making smart decisions under pressure. That's literally what we do every day for our clients.
How it works
You start with a Command Core (your server) and some minerals (your budget). Build solar arrays to generate power, deploy laser turrets to fight off incoming threats, and mine resources to expand your defenses. At night, your solar panels stop generating — so you better have batteries charged or you're defenseless.
It gets harder
Just like real cyber threats, the attacks get stronger over time. By Day 20 you can upgrade your turrets to Plasma Turrets, Day 40 unlocks Ion Cannons, and Day 100 gives you Nova Beams. You'll need every upgrade to survive the later waves.
The real lesson
The game mirrors real IT infrastructure — you need power (budget), defenses (security tools), and storage (backups) working together. Skip one and the whole thing falls apart. That's exactly why businesses need managed IT — because defending your network isn't a one-time thing, it's constant.

Think your network needs better defenses than a browser game can provide? That's what we're here for. Real protection, real monitoring, real peace of mind.
Happy 4th of July From Sussex PC — And A Few Tech Tips For The Long Weekend
Happy Independence Day from our team to your family! Before you fire up the grill and light the sparklers, here are a few quick tech tips to keep your devices safe this holiday weekend.
Happy 4th of July!
From everyone at Sussex PC — happy Independence Day! We hope you're spending the long weekend with family, friends, cold drinks, and good food. You deserve the break.
Before You Unplug For The Weekend...
A few quick things to keep your tech safe while you're out enjoying the fireworks:
Unplug During Storms
Summer storms love the 4th of July. Lightning and power surges can fry your computer, modem, and router in a split second. If you hear thunder, unplug your electronics — or at the very least, make sure you have a quality surge protector (not a $5 power strip from the gas station).
Don't Trust Public WiFi At Events
Heading to a festival, park, or fireworks show? That free WiFi network called "FREE_FIREWORKS_WIFI" is probably not legit. Use your phone's cellular data instead. If you absolutely need WiFi, don't log into banking, email, or anything with a password.
Back Up Your Photos
You're going to take a hundred photos of fireworks (and they'll all be blurry — it's tradition). But seriously, make sure your phone is backing up to Google Photos or iCloud. Nothing worse than losing a summer's worth of family photos because your phone took a swim in the pool.
Watch For Holiday Scams
Scammers don't take holidays off. Watch out for fake "4th of July sale" emails, texts about package deliveries you didn't order, and too-good-to-be-true deals. When in doubt, use our free Scam Checker tool to see if something's fishy.
We're Still Here
If something goes wrong this weekend — your computer crashes, your internet goes down, or you think you've been hacked — we're just a phone call away. Sussex PC serves Sussex and all of Southeast Wisconsin, holidays included.
Have a safe and happy 4th of July from our family to yours! — Chase & the Sussex PC team

Common Emergencies We Handle
Server Down
Your business server crashed and nobody can work. We diagnose the issue remotely or on-site and get you back up as fast as possible.
Ransomware / Hacked
Suspicious activity, locked files, or ransom demands on screen. We contain the threat, assess the damage, and start recovery immediately.
Complete Network Outage
Internet down across the whole office. We troubleshoot from the ISP handoff through your switches, router, and endpoints to find the break.
Critical Data Loss
Accidentally deleted files, corrupted drives, or failed backups. We attempt recovery using professional tools and protocols before it's too late.
Workstation Won't Boot
Your main computer or a critical workstation is dead. We diagnose hardware vs software failure and get you working again — same day when possible.
Email Compromise
Someone got into your email and is sending messages as you. We lock it down, change credentials, check for forwarding rules, and secure your accounts.
What To Do Right Now (Before We Get There)
- → Don't turn anything off unless a technician tells you to. Powering down incorrectly can make things worse, especially with data recovery.
- → If you suspect a hack or ransomware — unplug the affected computer from the network (pull the ethernet cable or turn off WiFi). Don't try to "fix" it yourself.
- → Write down what happened — what you saw on screen, what you were doing when it happened, any error messages. This helps us diagnose faster.
- → Don't click any pop-ups or pay any ransom. Seriously. Call us first.
- → If your email is compromised — change your password immediately from a different device, and enable two-factor authentication if you haven't.
- → Call us. That's it. We'll handle the rest.
Don't Wait — Every Minute Counts
The sooner you call, the better the outcome. We've seen it a hundred times — the businesses that call immediately recover faster and lose less.
